The flower shop that’s a staple of Willamette Valley life and culture is being transformed into an urban farm and food incubator.
The City of Willamsville is expanding its gardens into a food and agriculture hub.
The Willams County Community Food Center will be one of the first new facilities in the Willamotan Valley to serve as a center for food and farming.
The Willams Valley Farmers Market, which began this summer, will be a food truck market in the city of Willansville, according to a news release.
The community garden and farm is in a residential neighborhood of Willardsville.
The food truck business is booming in the Valley and the farm is being built to meet demand for farm fresh produce, according a news report from the city.
The center will offer more than 50 varieties of farm fresh, grass-fed and organic produce.
It also will serve as an educational resource center, a community hub for the Willams River Valley, and the local farmer’s market, the release said.
The new facilities are expected to be open in the summer.
