The shop opened in 1876 and closed in 1894.
Its owner, Charles Dyer, opened it in 1878.
He worked his way up to becoming the first owner of the Merrit Street store.
Today, he is the owner of Creston Flowers.
Crestons flower shop is in the same building as the Creston Farm, which is owned by Charles and Margaret Tompkins.
The Tompks own the Tompkin home.
Crestont flower shop opened to cater to all types of flowers including: cress, cinquefoil, jasmine, geranium, tulip, petunia, daffodils, roses, tulips, ylang ylang, chrysanthemums, lilacs, dahlias, marigolds, azaleas, bougainvilleas, and limes.
It also has a wide variety of roses.
The shop has a collection of more than 200 different flowers, including: daffron, petal, tulil, daphne, petioles, jasper, julia, and the flowers of the Mediterranean and the Americas.
The flower collection is housed in a large display case in the shop and the shop owner has even put up some of the flowers to be displayed on the display case.
This is one of the reasons the Toms decided to keep the shop open for generations.
While you can find many other flower shops in the city, Creston has a flower shop that is unique and has a long tradition.
The shop is located at 1412 W. Merrimacks road.
